Algiers: CMMS Clear for Take off!

Focus on … Airport Activities
With three terminals built to the latest international standards the Algiers Airport or Houari Boumediene Airport is one of the most modern airports in Africa. They have chosen to use Coswin 7i for their maintenance management.

The acquisition of a CMMS tool will help technical and economical decision making within the field of maintenance management and will make up an important part in the global strategy plan for 2007 to 2010. The objective of the plan is to modernise and improve the management of infrastructure and assets belonging to the Algiers Airport.

The policy of restructuring the airport began in 2007. The airport’s CEO, Mr Tahar Allache wants to bring the airport in line with other large, international airports. With this in mind, the plan, to modernise the equipment and its associated maintenance systems, will play an important role. The Algerian company SGSIA are an Airport Services and Infrastructures Management Company. It is a Government Controlled Corporation formed with the object of being able to manage the operation of Houari Boumediene airport of Algiers, with a high level of quality and performance. They will begin with the implementation of a CMMS system.

As a source of both economic efficiency and client service quality, maintenance of installations has become a fundamental element of managing an efficient airport. Implementation of the Coswin 7i solution by the Direction of Maintenance and Logistics will make it possible for them to manage corrective and preventative work, stocks and purchases. It can also be used to manage sub-contracting and for the creation of financial and technical dashboards to display real-time information about maintenance and logistic activities.

The scope of the Coswin 7i project covers maintenance of critical equipment such as baggage conveyors, aircraft boarding bridges, lifts and escalators. It covers building maintenance for the terminal, hangars, car parks, air-conditioning and green equipment such for fire fighting, passenger screening, and baggage control. The fleet of vehicles, which consists of 11,970 vehicles and pieces of equipment as well as around 10,000 stocked items, will also be included.

Today there are 88 Coswin users allocated according to instructions from SGSIA.
