COSWIN CARES… ABOUT HOSPITAL MAINTENANCE |
|
| CMMS AT THE BRIANÇON HOSPITAL
The Briançon hospital is made up of several different sites and the maintenance work needs to be organised accordingly. Previously, this was done with two separate maintenance departments (biomedical and technical) that worked independently of each other. The challenge for the group was to unify the information systems and to find a maintenance tool that could help them manage multiple sites and multiple services. They selected Coswin 7i Healthcare as the best option. It was implemented for both the technical and biomedical departments in January 2010. | ![]() Coswin 7i Healthcare screens used by Briançon Hospital |

Project managers’ accounts
There are around 200 people who use the Coswin 7i CMMS at the Briançon hospital. “The staff took to the software very quickly after the initial training”, declared Mr Buonomo, the Technical Services manager. Aurélien Plantion, the Siveco Project Manager added: “The deployment went very smoothly. Coswin was rolled out to the Mr Buonomo’s team first and then to the Biomedical service with Mr Nesson and Mr Clot. The result was a perfect success. The Briançon hospital project can be used as a good example of how a CMMS implementation should be done.”
Coswin covers the needs of both the biomedical and the technical departments of the hospital. It can be used to improve the availability of equipment and assets, assure regulatory testing and follow-up work, track the progress of work and give immediate alerts in case of breakdowns. Mr Nesson, the manager of the Biomedical service commented “Coswin helps us keep our services available at all times. It provides us with real time status updates on equipment and assets, clear and simple job requests and a facilitated management of maintenance contracts. In short, it’s a tool that puts allows the technical services to really make a difference to the economy of the hospital.”
nother feature of the hospital is that the maintenance work is planned according to the buildings and geographical zones. The technical and biomedical services use the maintenance module of Coswin 7i Healthcare for all the equipment and assets that belong to the hospital. As well as the biomedical equipment it includes the water and electricity installations and the even the bricks and mortar of the hospital buildings. With Coswin, the maintenance functions of all the services are linked. All the maintenance work can now be traced and regulated with the use of a single CMMS tool. The biomedical service also use the Stock and Purchase modules to keep track of spare parts and costs associated with the 2400 pieces of equipment and assets that are managed with Coswin. Mr Nesson commented that “importing the data with Clic-Clac couldn’t have been easier. It was very quick and we are happy with the result”. |

Following a test phase on the pilot establishment the solution was rapidly rolled out across all the principal establishments of the hospital. For Mr Buonomo, “the next step is to enhance our activity with financial services so that we can invoice the work that we do for the other services under the T2A scheme (Tarification of activities). The scale of customisation available in the application makes it possible to design the screens to better suite a user’s profile. Using the standard Coswin 7i Healthcare screens as a starting point, we have customised the screens to make them as simple and intuitive as possible. For example, the different hospital sites are displayed on the Coswin desktop. Users can click on the image to navigate to the relevant zone.” (See the above screenshot)
